Interlibrary Loan
If you require library material not accessible through Miller Library, we can often borrow material from another library on your behalf. When we receive the loan, Miller will check it out to you as we do regular library material.
Most of the time the service is free, although some lending libraries charge for loans. You can specify if you’re willing to pay a fee or not.
Current Miller Library patrons in good standing are eligible for this service.
How do I make a request?
At a minimum, we require the following information to fulfill Interlibrary Loan requests:
- Your name, ID & current email and phone number
- Books:
- Title
- Author
- Date or edition if necessary
- Articles:
- Title of article
- Author
- Title of journal
- Date of journal issue
If the format of the item is not important to you (i.e., hardcover vs paperback, edition, year of reprint), you do not need to include the ISBN, DOI or edition information on your request.
If you need help, please contact us at (575) 538-6359 or ill-wnmu@wnmu.edu.
What can I request?
Allowable requests include:

How will I receive my Interlibrary Loan?
Please allow 7-10 days to receive your interlibrary loans.
Miller staff will notify you by email when we receive your material. Requests filled electronically (such as digital copies of articles) will be emailed to you at this time. Physical items can be picked up at the Circulation Desk. If you are unable to pick up your material, please contact library staff at (575) 538-6359 or ill-wnmu@wnmu.edu.
Please note that loan periods of ILL materials are determined by the lending libraries so may differ from Miller’s loan periods. Renewals of interlibrary loan material are also determined by the lending library and are not guaranteed.
Returning interlibrary loans
Physical interlibrary loan material should be returned to Miller Library.
Any fees for late material, loss or damage will be determined by the lending library and will be charged to your account. Unpaid library fees may result in holds on your ability to register for classes or receive transcripts as well as suspension of your library privileges.
